Who we are

The Acehnese Canadian Community Society (“the society”, “we”) is a community organization in Vancouver, British Columbia. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL).

What we collect

When you register through our “Join us” form we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, city, whether you are joining as an individual or a family, any family member names you choose to share, your interests and any message you write.

When you email us about donations or other questions, we receive the information you include in your email. We do not process card payments on this website.

Our team members sign in with an email address so they can manage the website.

Why we use it

To review your registration and contact you about it.

To plan community activities and understand which programs people are interested in.

If you tick the box to receive event news, to email you about upcoming community events.

Event news emails

We only send event news if you agreed to receive it. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by emailing us. Unsubscribing does not remove your registration unless you ask us to.

Who can see it

Your details are never shown publicly on the website. Only authorized society team members with the admin or finance role can view registrations. We do not sell or rent your information. Our website and database are hosted by trusted service providers that store data on our behalf.

How long we keep it

We keep registration details while you remain involved with the society, or until you ask us to delete them.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent, by emailing us. We will respond within 30 days.

Photos

Photos from community events appear in our gallery. If you would like a photo of you or your child removed, please email us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
