Aceh, Indonesia · Our roots

A rich heritage. A living tradition.

At the northern tip of Sumatra, Aceh is a place of enduring faith, distinctive traditions and strong community bonds.

The place we carry with us

Discover Aceh.

Aceh lies at the northwestern tip of Indonesia’s island of Sumatra, with Banda Aceh as its capital. Its long history of connections across the Indian Ocean has helped shape a distinctive cultural identity.

Often called “Serambi Mekkah” — the Veranda of Mecca — Aceh has a deep Islamic heritage. In Canada, we carry these roots into our gatherings, shared celebrations and community life.
